After hurricane Fran roared through Durham in Sept. 96  the car a man and his daughter were riding in was swept off the road and they had to climb onto the roof. After being stranded for almost an hour the Durham Fire Dept. swift water rescue team saved them both.

Durham firefighters had a busy day in the city after a day of unusually heavy winds brought down a number of trees which blocked roads or landed on houses.
